ENERGY TECH
SolarisX is a mobile MVP that helps users track solar energy production and consumption, sell excess energy, monitor their balance, and follow investment performance. It turns complex solar data into a simple and engaging experience, allowing users to easily monitor their energy, earnings, and investments all in one place.
Challenge
Solar energy data is often technical and hard for everyday users to interpret.
The challenge was to create an experience that feels transparent, trustworthy, and approachable, while presenting real-time data, financial insights, and investment tracking in a way anyone could understand and enjoy.
My Role
I was responsible for the full design process — from defining user flows and low-fidelity wireframes to developing the visual concept, building a lightweight component library, and preparing final files for developer handoff.
While contributing to UX decisions, my main focus was on creating a polished visual identity and interface that communicates clarity, modernity, and reliability.
Design Process
The design process was built around a clear, user-centered progression — starting from understanding the problem and researching user needs, through defining structure and testing ideas, to creating and finalizing the visual design.
This approach ensured that every design decision was informed by real insights, and that usability, clarity, and visual consistency were maintained throughout the project.
Discovery & Research
The research phase focused on understanding both business expectations and user needs.
To achieve that, I conducted stakeholder interviews to clarify the product vision and priorities, and performed competitive benchmarking to explore how existing apps communicate energy and financial data.
Key findings
Wireframing & Prototyping
Low-fidelity wireframes were created to visualize layouts and navigation logic.
Four usability tests were conducted to validate ease of use and flow clarity.
Key improvements after testing included simplifying navigation, improving visibility of financial data, and clarifying the energy-selling process.
Visual Design
The approved visual identity merged sunlight warmth with fintech precision.
Typography Urbanist was chosen as the project’s font for its clean, modern sans-serif style, emphasizing clarity and accessibility.
Color palette Neutral backgrounds with subtle gradients, accented by solar yellow for key actions and highlights
Iconography & Graphs Minimal line icons and simplified graphs — professional but approachable
A lightweight component library was created for consistency (buttons, cards, charts), striking a balance between speed and scalability.
Final UI
The final UI delivered a clean, modern look that feels as comfortable as a banking app
Outcome & Reflections
Over the course of one month, the project evolved from an early idea into a launch-ready MVP that the founders were able to present to early investors.
The validated structure helped prevent two to three costly redesign cycles during development, and the lightweight component library reduced screen production time by over 40%, ensuring consistency across the entire interface.
These outcomes demonstrate how a clear UX foundation combined with strong visual direction can accelerate early-stage product development and give a startup the confidence to move forward with clarity and alignment.
